The University of Winchester will be launching the JUMP behaviour change programme in September this year.
Winchester is the latest university to implement the JUMP programme, joining Swansea University, Bournemouth University, the University of Chichester and Brunel University. The programme has a proven track record of helping universities achieve their sustainability and wellbeing goals.
Over a four month pilot, the programme will engage employees in sustainability and wellbeing activities on campus by providing incentives and rewards for positive behaviour. Through an innovative online platform and engaging communications campaign, employees will be able to monitor their progress and make real changes to their sustainability and wellbeing activities at work. Key themes the University aims to address are energy use, waste and recycling, food and drink, volunteering, sustainable transport and health and wellbeing.
Individuals will be rewarded with vouchers from popular high street brands, such as M&S and Love2Shop, as well as park and ride tickets and University gym passes. Top performing teams will also be rewarded with prize money to donate to chosen local charities.
The University of Winchester expects to see further savings in energy use and reductions in carbon emissions. Liz Harris, Environmental Projects Assistant at the University, said: “The University is committed to environmental sustainability and enhancing staff wellbeing. We are keen to encourage all employees to undertake positive activities to achieve these objectives and value the fresh, interactive approach of the Green Rewards JUMP programme. We’re really looking forward to implementing JUMP here at Winchester and can’t wait to see the results!”
Graham Simmonds, Managing Director of Green Rewards said: “The new contract with Winchester reflects the growing commitment amongst academic institutions to achieve sustainable growth by reducing their carbon emissions, saving energy and investing in wellbeing initiatives for employees. We see great potential for JUMP across the university sector.”
JUMP is an award-winning programme, operated by specialist provider Green Rewards. The JUMP pilot will launch at the University of Winchester this September.
