The University of the West of England (UWE) has recently been involved with a number of green initiatives both within the city of Bristol and across the UK.
On 23 May, UWE Bristol hosted an exciting and stimulating Roadshow event on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). One of only 11 UK events in the series, the purpose of the Roadshow initiative is to raise awareness of the 17 SDGs and to motivate business and academic communities around the UK to contribute to achieving them.
The UN SDGs represent the most complex challenges that society and business will face for years to come. UWE Bristol has committed to supporting the SDGs and phase three of our SDG mapping project was released at the event. We are keen to work with employers to ensure sustainable development of business and of the wider Bristol region.
The Bristol SDGs Roadshow was organised by UWE in conjunction the UN Global Compact and Bristol Green Capital Partnership (BGCP). Speakers included representatives from UWE Bristol, UN Global Compact, Bristol City Council, Neighbourly, Development Initiatives and DNV GL.
Other recent projects for UWE have included:
Universities collaborating with cities around sustainability
UWE Bristol links up with Glastonbury Festival to promote sustainability
Mobilising Bristol’s students to create a greener future
