EAUC has been requested to attend the fourth session of the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA) next week in Nairobi, Kenya from 11 - 15 March 2019.

The theme of the Assembly is ‘Innovative solutions for environmental challenges and sustainable consumption and production’.

At UNEA, the UN Environment’s Environmental Education team will be launching a Youth and Education Alliance and EAUC has been asked to advise and support this new global mechanism to connect, share and scale the excellence of EAUC members.

The only university and college sustainability body invited, EAUC CEO Iain Patton will speak at the event to give an overview of the work EAUC and its members do, as well as providing a wider perspective from its role as founder of the Global Alliance, SDG Accord and the International Green Gown Awards.
The Global Alliance is an alliance of national and international tertiary education and student sustainability networks set up in March 2015 at the EAUC Annual Conference. It is a network of networks, consisting currently of 34 networks spanning Asia, Africa, Asia Pacific, the Americas and Europe.

We are incredibly pleased to have been recognised by the UN as leading in this area and are looking forward to sharing best practice from our membership, as well as advancing and exploring better international partnerships. With Brexit around the corner and current sector instability, we are determined to create more opportunities and impactful relationships that can strengthen members resilience and innovation.

More information about the UN Environment Assembly is available here. Information on the Global Alliance here.

We look forward to updating you on our attendance. We will be tweeting from Nairobi and will write a blog about the experience.
