The University of Strathclyde will become the first Scottish university to implement the JUMP sustainability and wellbeing employee engagement programme.

The University will launch a 5 month pilot of the JUMP programme for 250 employees from January 2018.  JUMP will form part of the University’s developing programme of activities aimed at making Strathclyde a more sustainable university.

Spela Raposa and Amy Ritchie from the University of Strathclyde are currently finalising the behaviours to focus on for the pilot, and Spela said: “Sustainable travel will be a priority, particularly with all the opportunities for using public transport, cycling and walking because of our city centre location in the heart of Glasgow; energy, recycling and wellbeing will also be important themes for the programme.”

Strathclyde will join a number of other UK universities already utilising the JUMP programme to reduce carbon emissions and boost wellbeing, including Swansea University, the University of Winchester, the University of Chichester, Bournemouth University, and Brunel University London.

JUMP is an award-winning programme, operated by specialist provider Green Rewards. The programme has a proven track record improving sustainability and wellbeing and has achieved outstanding results, including an average 8% energy reduction across all client sites.

Graham Simmonds, Managing Director at Green Rewards, is looking forward to seeing the impact the University of Strathclyde will achieve through the programme and said, “I’m delighted to be working with Strathclyde as our first university partner in Scotland and helping the team realise their ambitious vision for sustainability.”

Green Rewards’ first university partner for JUMP in Wales, Swansea University, has recently been shortlisted in the prestigious edie Sustainability Leaders Awards 2018 in the Employee Engagement and Behaviour Change category and has been shortlisted in the Sustain Wales Awards 2017, in the Sustainable FE/HE Institution category, for its innovative SWell programme.
