The 2014 Unilever Sustainable Living Young Entrepreneurs Award, in partnership with the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) is seeking young people aged 30 and under with practical, innovative initiatives designed to tackle the challenge of sustainable living. The winner will receive the HRH The Prince of Wales Young Sustainability Entrepreneur Prize.
Submissions close on 1st August 2014 and should be made via the Ashoka Changemakers Platform. The winner and finalists will be invited to attend a Prize Event in January 2015 and the winner will receive a €50,000 cash prize and €25,000 worth of mentoring.
Seven finalists will participate in a four week online development programme, then a two-day accelerator workshop in Cambridge to develop their ideas. Finally, they will pitch to a panel comprised of business, sustainability and entrepreneur professionals.
The Awards are looking for solutions, which can be products, services or applications, which empower changes in practices or behaviours in one or more of nine categories:
• Water, sanitation and hygiene
• Nutrition
• Water scarcity
• Greenhouse gases
• Waste
• Sustainable agriculture
• Smallholder farmers
• Opportunities for women
• Micro-Enterprise
• Tackling critical issues
Last year, EAUC CEO Iain Patton attended the award ceremony, to support the work and potential of students in developing and delivering innovative solutions for sustainability. The EAUC is proud to welcome such awards and celebrate the creativity and ingenuity of young people and their novel entrepreneurial spirit in tackling sustainability problems.
