The first round of the Salix College Energy Fund, in partnership with the EAU...
The first round of the Salix College Energy Fund, in partnership with the EAUC and supported by the AoC, was launched in 2014. Two years on, 4 rounds have taken place which have provided funding for over 105 energy efficiency projects in Further Education Colleges with over £5.2million of these projects now completed.
The total annual savings of all projects funded are over an estimated £1.5 million and 7,500 tonnes of carbon*. These savings are realised through a variety of energy efficiency technologies, including LED Lighting, BEMS (boiler energy management system), boiler upgrades and ICT improvements.
The largest project funded was carried out by City of Liverpool College, to a value of over £810,000. The project incorporated a number of energy efficiency measures including LED lighting controls, air conditioning upgrades and a new BEMS. A new round of the Salix College Energy Fund for England will be announced soon, with early applications welcomed. Funding will be awarded once a project has passed technical assessment.
