This survey is designed to help you explore and question your own feelings, learning, thinking, knowledge, and assumptions around sustainability.
The Survey
We want to find out how people are feeling about sustainability, both as a wider subject, and in relation to their personal lives. So we’ve brought out a survey that asks children, young people, and adults what they think. We ask that you please take the time to fill out this survey, and that you please share it with your networks.
This survey is designed to help you explore and question your own feelings, learning, thinking, knowledge, and assumptions around sustainability.
The data we gather here is completely anonymous, and will be used by us to further our own understanding and help us design better programmes for you, and for those we work with in the future.
It should take you approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete the survey, and we ask that you take your time and answer each question honestly. Please remember that there is no right or wrong answer; part of what we want to discover here is not just what you do know, but also what you don’t know.
There are three versions of the survey, please complete the one that relates to you.
Primary School Survey – for children aged 6 to 11
Youth Survey – for young people aged 12 – 25
Adult Survey – for parents, teachers, and those working with young people
Sustainability Audit
If you are a teacher interested in how sustainable your school or class is, you can use this survey as a baseline audit to measure where they are currently at. Just get your school or class to fill it out and make sure they fill in the box that asks what school they go to. Once they have all completed it, email admin@se-ed.org.uk to get your school or class results. You can then compare these against the national results, or keep hold of them; get your students to repeat the survey at the end of your programme; and then compare the second results against the original.
If you would like a printable version of the survey please download it HERE.
What Happens Next?
The results from this survey will be included as part of the ongoing research that we submit to UNESCO.
Results from this survey will also be collated and used as evidence for our campaign to include sustainability education within the education act. Read more about our campaign.
This is a long running survey that we will keep open for a number of years, allowing us to identify and understand current trends around sustainability learning and education. We ask that you consider doing this survey again in the future, either yourself or with your students, to help us gain a broader picture of cultural sustainability development.
Anonymous results from this survey will be collated into a report that will be shared by SEEd, on our website, with our partners, with UNESCO, and with other ESD organisations.
