We're always delighted to hear about new partnerships that are making positive change. Read below about the recent partnership to reuse PCs from Edinburgh Napier University.
In an initiative also involving input from Procurement, Information Services and Environmental Sustainability, the School of Computing at Edinburgh Napier University has donated 28 PCs from their refreshed Digital Media Lab to be reused through a new partnership with The Turing Trust.
The Turing Trust provides donated IT equipment, loaded with educational resources, and training to schools in sub-Saharan Africa. Research has underlined the carbon reduction benefits of the Trust’s work in Malawi, so the donation is also in line with Edinburgh Napier’s commitment to incorporating the principles of environmental sustainability into all aspects of their institutional planning and operations.
The Turing Trust, founded by Alan Turing’s family, believes that bridging the digital divide in Africa would be a truly fitting way to honour his remarkable legacy.
Their donation will go towards supporting a project in Malawi where the Trust is bringing digital skills to students across the Northern Region.
