Michael Travers, Campus Services Manager at the University of Southampton, recently represented the EAUC at DEFRA’s National Litter Convention, where the latest anti-litter campaign from the environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, ‘Love Where You Live’, was announced.
The main aim of the campaign is to encourage partnerships between private, public and voluntary organisations, as well as individuals, to reduce littering by promoting local pride.
Speaking at the event, celebrities Bill Bryson and Kirstie Allsopp (a Keep Britain Tidy Ambassador) gave inspirational talks on the anti-litter cause. Their passion was matched by other speakers, representing a diverse group from Local Clean-up campaigners to Greggs the Bakers and the UK Tobacco Producers Association.
‘Love Where You Live’ will be launched in March 2011, when its own website www.lovewhereyoulive.org will go live. Use the campaign to improve your own environment and bring some love to where you live!
