Collaborations for Change: Integrating the SDGs in further and higher education through partnership
This special issue of the IJSHE is linked to the EAUC 2018 Annual Conference which, inspired by Sustainable Development Goal 17, 'Partnerships for the Goals' was themed around 'Collaborations for Change'. This theme reflects the growing acknowledgement of the need for a commitment to inclusive partnerships and cooperation built around principles and values, and a shared vision that places people and the planet at the centre. This special issue will focus on how Further and Higher Education Institutions are integrating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into policies, strategies and practices approached through the lens of SDG 17: Partnership for the goals.
Submissions may therefore address the following themes:
-Partnerships between HEIs and other stakeholders such as industry, charities, youth organizations, public and private sector around any of the SDGs e.g. SDG 13: Climate Action
-Policies and strategies of HEIs on how to embed the SDGs using internal partnerships within different faculties and services
-SDG integration into other public sector organizations such as the NHS, which could serve as a role model for HEIs
-Practical experiences of partnership relating to Education, Research and Extension (the so-called 3rd Mission, whereby universities outreach to local communities, industry and other groups)
-Transformation of existing partnerships in order to address the SDGs and the matching targets
-Insights on how to create a vision for a partnership.
We would like to encourage research papers, but also case studies to share best practice, as well as literature reviews or general reviews about topics such as living labs, to provide an overview or historical examination of some concept, technique or phenomenon. The latter papers are likely to be more descriptive or instructional ("how to" papers) than discursive. In the spirit of collaboration we encourage writing partnerships between academic staff and those staff involved in the sustainability agenda but who do not normally take part in writing and publication activities.
