Carbon Consultant - MyCarbon

The role we are hiring for is that of a Carbon Consultant, joining a team of 3 existing consultants and supporting the two business directors with Net Zero strategy delivery. This would include the calculation and reporting of corporate and product carbon footprints, developing emission reduction strategies, carbon offsetting and research. You’ll be trained in all relevant standards to be able to deliver the best of what MyCarbon has to offer, enabling you to become a leader in a high growth sector.

You should be a highly motivated individual with a passion for sustainability and the desire to grow a business. You’ll be working closely with the two directors to enhance and deliver our offering to the highest standard possible, ensuring we make a truly positive impact on the world. This is a role for an individual who wishes to grow with us and be part of something great. It is not a clock in and out role.

We are looking for the role to begin asap, or from January 2023.

A STEM background is essential for this role. No prior experience of carbon accounting or developing emission reduction strategies required.

Core responsibilities
These are the set of responsibilities we estimate would to take up 67% of your working life within MyCarbon:
  • GHG quantification and reporting
  • Life cycle analysis and reporting
  • Development of emission reduction strategies
  • Carbon offsetting - Purchase and retirement of carbon credit portfolios
  • Research of emission factors and latest guidance on sustainability best practices
  • Client calls - introductions, project scoping, project delivery

Secondary responsibilities
These are the set of responsibilities we estimate to take up 33% of your working life within MyCarbon:
  • Business development - Assisting on items that help to grow and develop the business
  • Internal process control - Data control, CRM management, internal dashboard management
  • Building networks (LinkedIn and email/CRM)

Key performance indicators

  • Successful delivery of GHG / LCA / emission reduction reports
  • Improving and building upon our emission factor database
  • Improving client satisfaction
  • Increase in projects delivered by MyCarbon

Skills required
Required skills for this role include:
  • Ability to process large data sets [Mainly through using excel]
  • Ability to write to a high standard (i.e. ideally familiar with writing to a scientific structure)
  • Personable and professional, with the confidence to engage with clients at an executive level
  • Effective desk based research and data aggregation/collation
  • Proactive and very organised
  • Able to adapt quickly

Stage Two- Initial Quickfire Chat: Successful applicants will then be invited to a short 15 minute interview to shortlist for the final round. This 15 minute interview will be a short introduction for both parties. If selected for the final interview you'll be asked to conduct an excel calculation task based on example client data. The time limit on this task is two hours.

Stage Three- Formal Interview: Successful applicants will be invited to a 1 hour interview for a much deeper discussion.

Stage Four- Selection: The successful candidate will be selected following the final interview.
