Two years ago, Universities Superannuation Scheme Ltd (USS) trustees and executives accepted a call by over 3,000 scheme members to take members’ views into account when making investment decisions - decisions like whether members' money would be invested in controversial weapons such as landmines and cluster munitions.

The USS Trustee board provided assurance that they were listening to members, that they would engage and learn what members think about investments in businesses like those that manufacture landmines and cluster munitions. Yet, after two years of engagement by members in good faith, USS are ignoring the views and concerns of members, and are investing members' money in businesses that contradict the world members try to create as scholars, teachers and supporters of learning.
