University of Exeter
The Times Higher University of the Year, the University of Exeter is one of the original members of the EAUC and was the host for EAUC’s 12th Annual Conference. In recent years the University has strived to progress and improve all of its activities, including environmental management and sustainability. In recognition of its achievements it received the accolade of the Times Higher “University of the Year 2007/8”
A green environment
Renowned for its beautiful green campus, the University now has a very full and vibrant environmental and sustainability agenda.
Sustainable travel
Its recent Sustainable Transport Plan has won praise from the DfT. It has also just completed a Higher Education Carbon Management project resulting in significant energy savings and and is held as a model of excellence by the Carbon Trust.
Environmental education
Exeter has launched several new courses on sustainability, including an MSc in Sustainable Development, which draws on cutting edge research and is informed by the professional needs of sustainability practitioners.
The responsibility for environmental matters currently lies with Dr Paul Adams, Health, Safety and Environment Adviser and a former member of the EAUC Executive. There is a vacancy for a Sustainability Advisor to drive forward the University’s environment and sustainability agenda.
