Climate change is one of the biggest challenges facing us today. Evidence shows that average global temperature is increasing, but if we take action now, we will be able to mitigate the detrimental effects predicted of climate change.

There are many things we can do as individuals to reduce our impact on climate change but if we act together as communities we can do even more. Climate change is not just a global issue and the actions we take in Scotland can help the overall impact.

The Climate Challenge Fund was set up to help communities make a real difference by significantly reducing carbon emissions. There is no set amount of funding, only a maximum award of £1 million. If your project is larger than £1 million and has a particularly high potential carbon saving and fulfils the other fund criteria it may still be considered.

This half day event will include presentations from Keep Scotland Beautiful on the Climate Challenge Fund - how to access it and tips on submitting a good application. The event will also include case studies including transition towns and a students perspective on tackling Peak Oil and Climate Change issues and the National Union of Students (NUS) Scotland, Carbon Ambassador Audits project.

This event would be of interest to:

  • Student Associations
  • Universities and Colleges with community groups looking to reduce carbon emissions
  • Community groups
  • Local Authorities and Elected Council Members
