To help those using the Cost of Net Zero Calculator delivery partners Energise we will be hosting another surgery to offer technical support to users.

These pre-booked sessions will be useful for those in the tertiary education sector who have recently downloaded the calculator for the first time, or are actively using it within your organisation, and have questions on specific figures or fields, technical queries that have not been covered in the regularly updated FAQs, or wish to share particular insights or experiences with the designers and/or other users.

To ensure sufficient time to address individual queries, numbers will be limited for each surgery, with a waiting list in operation. This event will not be recorded so that attendees can freely share issues, information, opinions, etc.

Background
In July 2023, BUFDG, AUDE and EAUC launched the calculator tool alongside the ‘Cost of Net Zero’ report to help institutions project their spend and emissions at a strategic level, and provide an estimate of what it will cost to achieve Net Zero goals within a certain timeframe. It is estimated the cost for the Higher and Further Education sector to reach Net Zero will total £43.8 bn, with £37.1 bn attributed to H E.

The calculator is designed as a starting point that provides early-stage cost estimations for a proposed transition to Net Zero based on the targets selected, and as a yardstick tool to assist financial planning.

It is intended to provide pathway modelling to forecast what the additional marginal costs on a decarbonisation journey might look like under different scenarios for short-term and long-term Scope 1 and 2 decarbonisation costs and emission reductions, using industry accepted sources such 6th Carbon Budget and National Grid’s Future Energy Scenarios.

This session is open to members of AUDE, BUFDG, EAUC, HESPA and HEPA.

You can book your place on the BUFDG website, and click 'book onto an event as a guest'.
