QAA Quality Code Consultation (Virtual)

This meeting is open to EAUC educational members and we welcome those responsible for quality assurance as well as wider learning and teaching staff and sustainability professionals.
The QAA published their Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) guidance back in 2014 (in partnership with Advance HE, then the HEA). Periodically since then, there has been discussion about how such guidance would be more impactful if it was part of the central quality coder rather than as an additional ‘add on’.
To date there hasn’t been any mention of sustainability nor ESD in the quality code. QAA is now conducting a formal consultation on the proposed 2024 edition of the Quality Code, closing on 17th May, 5pm. This represents a vital opportunity to embed sustainability and ESD in higher education on a systemic level.
The EAUC will be submitting a sector-informed response and is seeking members' perspectives and insights as part of this event. We’ll also publish our response ahead of the deadline to help inform members’ own consultation responses.
