Site Waste Management Plans (SWMPs) became mandatory in April 2008 with all construction and refurbishment projects over £300,000 required to produce a SWMP.

As a sector, we have a major part to play in ensuring contracted companies adhere to the SWMP legislation and where possible go beyond standard practice to achieve greater benefits and efficiencies.

This is an interactive seminar with workshops providing practical advice and examples on what a SWMP is and how to go about implementation with good and best practice. It will also provide you with the tools to allow you to develop your own SWMP and the knowledge to engage everyone from conception to completion.

You will realise the benefits including significant cost savings of such plans and develop skills which will enable a successful SWMP to be developed and used on site.

There will also be two sector case studies of how SWMP have been implemented successfully providing key learnings and evidence of good practice.

This workshop will:

  • Highlight the benefits of SWMPs including cost savings
  • Provide practical advice on how to embed SWMPs
  • Demonstrate how available tools can be used on your projects
  • Give sector example SWMPs
