The UK launch of a new two volume guide on achieving High Performance Buildings – which has been endorsed by University Directors of Finance (“this document’s key message – that many environmental benefits can be achieved cost-effectively if the right things are done in building design and construction –
is one that everybody connected with financial issues in further and higher education should heed”) and by University Directors of Estates (“required reading for anyone making decisions about the academic estate”).
Building on gateway processes – with Checklists at each key stage for senior managers and design teams – this will help transform the institutional landscape for new building and major refurbishment capital projects.
Placing the tools and techniques for achieving “green” or “environmentally-aware”, long-life, loose-fit and low energy buildings in the hands of mainstream practitioners will contribute both to academic excellence and to a lower carbon estate for Universities and Colleges. Afternoon workshop will explore implementation of the guidance in driving excellence across the estate and direction for a forthcoming BREEAM for HE buildings.
The event is free of charge. Principals and Vice-Principals who have a lay oversight responsibility will find the morning session especially valuable. The afternoon workshop is a CPD event for practitioners – from both within FHE sector and the design team consultancies – to explore how a BREEAM for HE might help.
The CaSPr Constructiion TSN Meeting will be held in the afternoon.
