Leaders of the Future in Sustainable Development Workshop is an LSIS event run by EAUC and aims to build participants’ capability and confidence to be leaders, influencers and change agents in their organisation, and equip them to work across the organisation to embed sustainable development in all areas of activity.

The programme is for anyone, within colleges and sixth form colleges, work based learning providers and ACL providers, who has lead responsibility for sustainable development within their organisation, for example as a sustainability leader, co-ordinator or ‘champion’. It is suitable both for those with experience in such a role, and for those more recently appointed.

By attending this two-day workshop you will get the following key benefits for you and your organisation:

  • A clear understanding of what sustainable development means, and what it means for your organisation;
  • A deeper understanding of your role as a sustainability champion, and how you can benefit your organisation;
  • The insights and experiences shared from some of the top sustainability practitioners in the learning and skills sector, focusing on the key sustainability areas of :
        - Leadership & strategy
        - Teaching & learning
        - Community & business
        - Estates, facilities, carbon & procurement
  • An understanding of who you need to engage with, or continue to engage with, and how, to develop your organisation’s commitment and practice in sustainable development;
  • Awareness of information and support available within the learning and skills sector to assist you and your organisation in developing and implementing a sustainability strategy;
  • Tailor made action plans and strategies to develop your role, engage stakeholders, and increase your impact in your organisation;
  • A range of tools to take back and use with colleagues and students, to facilitate engagement with the sustainability agenda.

Attendance at the workshop will be backed up with a series of resources that will be available on the LSIS website. These will be available for delegates to use as prompts to learning on the workshop, and to share with colleagues. Activities used throughout the 2-days will also be available for participants to replicate at their organisations.

You will benefit from the extensive experience and knowledge in sustainable development of a team of senior leaders and experts from both within the sector and beyond, including:
  • Di Dale, Principal, Wiltshire College and Chair, AoC South West Sustainability Network
  • Esin Esat, Director of Sustainability, Bedford College
