Course Aim:

The aim of this day would be to help delegates effectively protect, manage and enhance biodiversity on campus by gaining support throughout the organisation, identifying opportunities through survey techniques and making the most out of the grounds maintenance staff and contracts.

Audience:

Both estates and sustainability staff should attend.

  • Gaining senior management commitment
  • Making links to wider issues
  • Undertaking a campus biodiversity survey and phase 1 habitat surveys
  • Species surveys – making use of local groups and experts
  • Project ideas and guidance
  • Environmental interpretation
  • Biodiversity and sustainability requirements within grounds maintenance contracts
