Course Aim:

The aim of this one day event is to help institutions embed sustainability into their purchasing practice using the Government’s Flexible Framework as a guide and monitoring tool. The day will be made up of interactive sessions focusing on an action plan to implement Levels 1 & 2 of the Framework. It will discuss tools, practical examples and tips to help turn this action plan into reality.

An Introduction to Sustainable Procurement, the Flexible Framework and related guidance:

  • Identifying sustainable procurement champions;
  • Identifying sustainability impacts in the purchasing process;
  • Producing and communicating a sustainable procurement policy;
  • Gaining senior management commitment;
  • Producing a sustainable procurement training programme;
  • Setting sustainable procurement priorities through spend and supplier analysis;
  • Undertaking Whole Life Costing analysis;
  • Adopting ‘quick wins’;
  • Applying sustainability criteria to contracts;
  • Implementing a supplier engagement programme; and
  • Measuring and monitoring sustainable procurement practice.
