Growing the Green Gown Awards together: American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) becomes first International Green Gown Award regional ambassador

EAUC is delighted to announce a new partnership with the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), supporting our strategic plans to grow the International Green Gown Awards and share sustainability learning from education institutions around the world. 

The partnership sees AIUB appointed as the first Regional Ambassador of the International Green Gown Awards.

The year-long partnership will involve AIUB working with EAUC to promote awards across southern Asia, encouraging participation as well as the sharing of knowledge about sustainability in higher education.

Locally-anchored, internationally-connected

The American International University-Bangladesh is based in Bangladesh’s capital city, Dhaka. As well as being anchored in its local community, it has strong national and international connections, closely aligning to the Green Gown Awards ethos of collaboration, innovation and leadership for sustainability.

The university is also a four-time finalist of the International Green Gown Awards and an active advocate of integrating the UN Sustainable Development Goals into its learning, research, campus, operations and community.

Tove Hubbard, Sustainability Programme Manager at EAUC, commented:

Professor Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, member of the board of trustees at AIUB said:

As an ambassador, we're looking forward to bringing more sustainability projects from southern Asia to a global audience while sharing expertise from universities around the world.”

Celebrating exceptional sustainability initiatives 

The International Green Gown Awards recognise, celebrate and showcase exceptional sustainability initiatives from tertiary education institutions around the world.

Established in 2014, the awards are the only programme dedicated exclusively to recognising sustainability in post-16 education.

Applications for the 2026 International Green Gown Awards are closed, with finalists being announced on 4 June.

The awards are delivered by EAUC with support from:

• Australasian Campuses Towards Sustainability (ACTS)
• Higher Education Sustainability Initiative (HESI)
• the International Association of Universities (IAU)
• the UN Environment Programme
