SRUC Biodiversity Strategy 2025-2030

Finalist, Nature Positive

About

SRUC’s Biodiversity Strategy (88-pages) was composed as part of our “Climate Change Action Plan” commitments and objectives. It involved a comprehensive two-year development process, leading to the implementation of targeted conservation and restoration projects across the SRUC 4,653ha estate. Furthermore, the strategy is used for student curriculum module assessments that propose campus biodiversity improvements.

Top 3 learnings

1. Our CCF restoration project proved successful for future generations, climate and ecosystem resilience

2. Our collaboration of our “wee forests” to provide additional eco systems support for an
endangered iconic species.

3. Our “Wee forests” sequesters carbon, improves campus wellbeing and student curriculum, climate
resilience and enhances ecosystems.
