Are you concerned about the climate crisis?

Are you concerned about how businesses and societies will be affected by the climate crisis and want to find out ways you could help mitigate the risks?

The climate crisis is one of the greatest challenges we are currently facing, and it will affect all aspects of business and society and all other areas we might be concerned about such as poverty or loss of biodiversity.

Consequently, graduates and employees with the know-how in tackling environmental and social issues to cope with future challenges have a competitive advantage in the job market.

By taking part in this training, you will gain an understanding of:

  • The basic science behind climate change
  • Social equity & climate change
  • What we need to do to meet the Paris Agreement targets and achieve a zero carbon society
  • What you can do to act on climate change – in your personal life and at university / in your future job role
  • Strategies and skills for communicating action on climate change

You will also receive a full certificate issued by The Carbon Literacy Trust, subject to approval.

EAUC are pleased to be working in partnership to promote Carbon Literacy training. The training is delivered by Green Gown Award winners Manchester Metropolitan University and is certified by the Carbon Literacy Project.

To ensure as many institutions as possible have access to the training we are restricting places to 3 per institution. We hope to have further dates in the Autumn.

What to expect
Participants will undertake a series of online interactive modules, over a two-week period. Each module will consist of a blend of self-learning and online group discussion and activity to achieve the learning outcomes of the Carbon Literacy standard.

Divided into two manageable blocks, the programme is available through Manchester Met’s digital learning platform. Participants can access the course through an individual login, and pick-up the self-study element of the course in their own work time, so long as this element is completed before the associated webinar.

Each self-learning element consists of a range of short media clips, presentations and quizzes and should take approximately two hours to complete. The associate webinars will be delivered on the following dates and times via Zoom. The training is developed and led by Manchester Metropolitan University’s Carbon Literacy team.

Live group discussions dates and times (Zoom)

  • Webinar 1: The Climate Change Challenge & A Zero Carbon World: 14th of July 12-3 pm
  • Webinar 2: Taking Action & Our Wider Influence : 16th of July 12-3 pm

Zoom invites will be emailed to you to take part in the live group sessions (please keep the times and dates stated above available).
